Holy Week at Home

As you know we are under mandatory shelter in place orders, and that means we're about to have a Holy Week like no other.  But just because we can't gather in our sanctuary doesn't mean that church is canceled.  No way, no how.  God is with us no matter where we are.  The building may be empty, but so was the tomb!  We are an Easter people!

Palm Sunday - April 5

Join us for worship online at 9:30 am, followed by a time of fellowship at 10:15 am.

Maundy Thursday - April 9

Join us online at 7:00 pm for an interactive worship service.  You will need a candle + matches, Bible, glass of water, and piece of bread.  On the night in which Jesus broke bread one final time with his disciples in the Upper Room, we will gather to remember this holy meal and reconnect with the Holy Spirit that unites us all.

Good Friday - April 10

Bishop Carcaño will be joined by Conference Lay Leader Micheal Pope in leading a Good Friday Memorial Service at noon.  The service will last 30 minutes and commemorate the passing of those who have succumbed to complications from COVID-19, the disease caused by coronavirus.  (Click here)

Join us online at 7:00 pm for a tennebrae service as we retrace the last moments of Jesus' life.  Tennebrae is a latin word meaning "shadows."  Gather some candles and join in this quiet time of contemplation.

Easter - April 12

Join the Bishop for a Sunrise Service on Easter morning at 6:15 am, to celebrate the Resurrection of our LORD, Christ Jesus, and the promise of abundant life even in the midst of uncertain times.  (Click here)

Rejoice!  Sing Alleluia!  He is Risen!  Jesus Christ is Risen Indeed!  Join us in our celebration of the miracle of Easter.  We will gather to worship at 9:30 am with a time of fellowship at 10:15 am.

Responding to Covid-19

Friends, we are in uncharted territory.  The situation in the world and in our own community is changing rapidly, hour by hour, and even minute by minute.  I think we can all agree, this has been a crazy couple weeks, so let's all take a great big breath and let it out slowly.  Breathe in the peace of God, and let go of all the stress, anxiety, fear, frustration, etc.  Breathe deep and release all that tension that has been bunching up inside of you.

There are a couple of things I want to let everyone know.  New Vision is a United Methodist Church.  What does that mean?  Well, in this context what it means is that we follow something called the three simple rules.  John Wesley, the guy who founded the Methodist movement, had a plan and he used these rules to guide everything he did in his life.  Those three simple rules are as relevant today as they were 300 years ago when Wesley first thought them up.  So here's the plan, our method as we navigate our way through the new reality that we are living in the midst of a pandemic.
